If you are following my blog you have probably already figured out that I am a photographer by trade, that being the case I have finally put together a page on Facebook for my fans to congregate! Do me a huge favor and head over there and like my page, www.facebook.com/ShootJoeC
As far as inexpensive dolly’s go I have to say this one is pretty cool. I’m not sure how well it would do with the weight of my Canon 5dmk2 but it may be worth it for my iPhone or point and shoot. Check out some of the details by heading over to their site, HERE.
Although I don’t really post about it too much I am a huge fan of The Format, and was honestly heartbroken when they broke up. I hate to say something as cliche as they changed my life, but their album Dog Problems came out at a very interesting time in my life and it was a huge part of trying to make things right again. When Nate started his new band Fun I was hoping that maybe they would pick up where the Format left off but without Sam it just wasn’t the same. I got a chance to see Fun play in Vienna, VA though and it was an awesome time, it was before the band really started touring so it was just an acoustic show, and they even played some of my favorite Format songs! Check out the video and take a look at this photo I shot of Nate when the Format played at Loyola College:

Wow. I am taken aback by this video. For once in my life I am at a loss for words. Being a heavily tattooed person one of the biggest issues I deal with in my life is the lack of acceptance of tattoos in our society. Anyone who has had to cover their tattoos for a job or anything else in life can more than likely agree with me on that.
So I ask, do these two photos make you think differently of me?

I know it has been a while since I posted last, things have been crazy busy and my blog got pushed to the back burner. What better comeback post than an all new digital audio recorder from Zoom, the H2n This is a slight step below the ever popular Zoom H4n but a step above the original H2 SD. Having used the H4n I know all about the quality of Zoom products and the amazing sound that you can capture with them. Check out the H2n if you are hesitant to spend the slightly bigger bucks on the H4n but still have a need for digital audio, by clicking HERE.
My pal and yours, Miss Allison Weiss, playing music and being adorable.
Not much to say about how amazing this is. I have used Montana cans before and there is nothing like them in the world. Watch the video to get an idea of the process behind this great company.
Awesome production quality and content. This is the type of video I strive to make.
Real, real sick video. If you are too lazy to watch the whole thing skip ahead a bit to see yelawolf do a super stripped down version of his song, Pop the Trunk, off of his recent album, “Trunk Muzik 0-60”
Wow, this video only has like 100 hits. Completely insane. Reblog this over and over again please, not only because its a great video, but also because it is an amazing song for the very sweet and never tardy Jenny Owen Youngs.
It seems like a lot of people are writing a review of 2010 and I have been meaning to do one for weeks now so I guess now is the time.
Lots of ultra huge stuff happened to me in 2010 so I guess I will start with the most monumental thing ever, which happened March 12th…
1. WE HAD MAX!!!!!
Nine short months flew by and we finally had Max in our arms. It is impossible for me to explain how awesome it is to be a dad. Every little thing I do means so much more now that I have a little man to take care of. Max is SO funny, cute, playful, adorable, handsome, Sooo so so smart and he loves us so much. Nothing can turn a bad day around quicker than looking across your room and seeing your baby, who is quickly growing into a man, standing in his crib saying da-da-da-da and lighting up when he see’s me looking back at him. I just can’t begin to describe how amazing it is. I am the most paranoid dad in the world, I am so worried that he is ok, and comfortable and happy. I just want him to never feel like he isnt the most important person in the world, because he is, he changed our life in the most perfect way possible. The crying and fussing all takes a back seat to the laughing and giggling, the funny words and babbling like he thinks we understand what he is saying, the snuggles, the kisses which are actually one tooth face bites, the eye poking which hurts SO bad but how can you be mad at someone with that face?! I feel like it was yesterday that he rolled over for the first time and we said “uh oh, we are in trouble now,” and now he can climb up flights of stairs so quick you can’t turn your back for a second.
Max’s favorite thing to do is stand by my camera gear and just stare at it. It makes me such a proud daddy to see my man standing next to a camera, even though he is so little and probably hasn’t decided he wants to be a pro photographer like daddy just yet (or maybe he has!):

2. Kailee and I got married!!!
Thats right! October 30th Kailee and I had a very small ceremony in NYC and we are officially married! After being engaged for a little over a year we finally made it happen. We started to plan a few times but the stress of planning a wedding with Kailee being pregnant was too much for either of us. We went to NYC on October 29th early in the morning to secure our marriage licence and do a little touristy stuff since our trips to New York in the past have been less than enjoyable haha. We had the most amazing time I could have ever imagined, Friday we met up with friends, and my cousin Cazzey who was the one marrying us, ate Mexican food, walked around the city and just enjoyed eachothers company. Saturday we split up so Kailee could get her makeup and hair done while I went to get a straight razor shave and eat some breakfast with my homie Philip. Everything went so super smooth and by 6pm on Saturday we were married. Thanks to Cazzey we were invited to use fashion designer Bradley Bayou’s rooftop terrace in the Lower West Side, which was unbelievable in every way imaginable. The view was amazing, the house was perfect and Bradley was so welcoming in making his home completely open to me and my family.

3. I started an amazing new job!
“Social Media Marketing Manager” is my title, and a hell of a title it is! I am literally living my dream. Blogging, writing, making videos, shooting photos… and a handsome salary to go with it! I can’t say thank you enough to the people who made this happen, and the people who believed in me. Most importantly Kailee, who didn’t say anything when I sat in my pajamas and BBQ’d with my friends every night for six months while I looked for a job. I could not be happier with my job, and I have never been able to say that before.
4. Photography (videography?)
This year was HUGE for me as a photographer. I feel like I had a shoot every weekend for the entire year. Just to make this simple, here are some shoots from 2010:
Ian Axel, Lakeview, Industry Made, Taylor Gourmet (a dozen times!), Mike & Amanda’s Wedding, Kara Correspondence, False Victim Author Photo, False Victim Book Release Party, The Phil Good Band (Now Roof Top Pursuit), Floriana’s Restaurant, Humanity Clothing, Virgin Music Fest, Semantic Bits, Edens & Avant, Breakdance Project Uganda, Abramz, Red Bull Bouncing Cats, Price Waterhouse Cooper and the list goes on!
I have also dabled in video a bit seeing as I shoot still photos with a 5d Mark 2 I thought I would give video a try and I am in love. I cannot stop thinking about video, it has changed the way I watch movies, the way I watch traffic go by when I am stopped at a light, even the way I shoot photos. I am hooked. Check out my youtube channel to see some of the stuff I have put together so far:

I will leave this as it is for now and say that 2010 was the most amazing year of my life. Everything I have ever dreamed about came true and I am looking forward to 2011 to grow together with my Wife, my son, my career and everything else that I enjoy. Thanks to everyone who helped me to get where I am today!
Amazing. Shot on a Canon t2i with a kit lens. For all you people out there talking about ‘you can’t make a good film without expensive gear,’ a T2i with a kit lens is well under $1000. Boom!
The overhead shots in this video were shot on a Canon 5d Mark 2 that was attached to a radio controlled helicopter. Yes, a radio controlled helicopter.
7d footage shot in 720p then slowed down. Great stuff!!!
I love Jason Schwartzman so much. If you can watch this and tell me you don’t think he is funny, I don’t think we can be friends on the Internet anymore.
