Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Music just isn’t what it used to be and that should be clear by listening to Mississippi John Hurt, a man who has seen it all and been around since before your grandparents were born. I really can’t say anything about him that will adequetlly explain how incredible his music is, so watch the video and if you want to know more about him go check it out, HERE.
Although I don’t really post about it too much I am a huge fan of The Format, and was honestly heartbroken when they broke up. I hate to say something as cliche as they changed my life, but their album Dog Problems came out at a very interesting time in my life and it was a huge part of trying to make things right again. When Nate started his new band Fun I was hoping that maybe they would pick up where the Format left off but without Sam it just wasn’t the same. I got a chance to see Fun play in Vienna, VA though and it was an awesome time, it was before the band really started touring so it was just an acoustic show, and they even played some of my favorite Format songs! Check out the video and take a look at this photo I shot of Nate when the Format played at Loyola College:

I can’t remember the last time I posted a video on my blog, but this is one that needed to be shared. This dudes name is G-Eazy and he is the sickest rapper out right now, bar none. That is all.
My pal and yours, Miss Allison Weiss, playing music and being adorable.
Real, real sick video. If you are too lazy to watch the whole thing skip ahead a bit to see yelawolf do a super stripped down version of his song, Pop the Trunk, off of his recent album, “Trunk Muzik 0-60”
and it was the “performance” last night by the “musician” Shannon Wright at the 9:30 club. It makes me sick to my stomach that not only has this music massacring disaster has gotten signed to a label, but is also opening for Yann Tiersen, one of the most melodic and talented musicians of the last ten plus years.
At one point she stopped the show to tell people in the crowd to talk less. Seriously? You are the no name opening act at the 9:30 club, Eric Clapton wouldn’t stop Tears in Heaven to ask people to keep it down, what in the world gives you the right to even think about asking people to quiet down? I should have asked you for my $25 back so I could have bought a single bullet to end the misery you were causing me. I actually heard a few people clapping when you finished a song, I am almost 100% sure they were clapping because your song was over and their ears had a chance to stop bleeding for a second. I even heard a guy yell “Shut the Fuck Up” during one of your songs. Unfortunately, you did not shut the fuck up for quite some time afterwards. When I got home I recorded an album at 2am, playing six instruments I have no knowledge of, I am going to send the CD to your label and tell them you inspired me.
It has been quite some time since I got down with some Blu & Exile, but this track is hot fire.
If you know me in real life you will know that I enjoy making music, but I am really bad at it. I can’t play the guitar, I cant play the piano and I certainly can’t sing well. unfortunately (for Kailee) that doesn’t stop me from doing all three. This looks like a cool way for me to harness some of my songwriting superpowers (or lack thereof) and make that Meatloaf cover album I have been talking about since fourth grade.

New Dead Prez is legit. RBG.
Sick video. Anyone know what song this is? I tried to Shazam it but no luck. Either way, makes me want to go back to Paris.

Amazing. I live for music like this.
Ola Podrida - Run off the Road
I just finished watching Cocaine Angel a few minutes ago. It was a really great film, it was so honest and real. The score/soundtrack was great too, a lot of piano pieces with a Yann Tiersen feel to them and it ended with an awesome song by Ola Podrida. I highly recommend this movie, you can even watch it right now if you have netflix on demand. Do yourself a favor and check out Ola Podrida here if you haven’t already.
