I knew eventually this day would come, but I am leaving tumblr. Since I originally started blogging here way back in January of 2009 I have had a great time meeting people and interacting with my readers, but the time has come that tumblr no longer fits my needs as a blogger. I will keep this short and sweet, but I love you guys and I hope that you continue to read my blog in its new format.
I will keep my tumblr blog active indefinitely, and have imported all 1,600 of my posts over to WordPress. I will also keep the same domain so there is no need to update your Google Readers. For reference, that address is: http://blog.shootjoec.com
If you are following my blog you have probably already figured out that I am a photographer by trade, that being the case I have finally put together a page on Facebook for my fans to congregate! Do me a huge favor and head over there and like my page, www.facebook.com/ShootJoeC
Over the years Glock handguns are a brand I keep coming back to, there is nothing I don’t like about them, from the build quality, finish, caliber offerings and price. There are many gun manufacturers that have been around far longer than Glock that the average American has never even heard of, but mention Glock and everyone from my mom to a random guy on the street will know exactly what you are talking about. Read about the rise of the Glock as one of the most popular handguns in America in this new book by Paul M. Barrett, which you can pick up here. Also, in case any of you were wondering, my favorite Glock I have ever owned is the Glock 30, a subcompact .45acp.
It may be because of this hard part 50’s haircut I just got, but lately I have been fixated on gold watches. It could also be attributed to me finally getting some more info on my grandfathers gold watch that I have, but more on that later. The watch we see here is a Nixon which they are calling “The Spur.” This is a japanese movement watch with three hands, one of my favorite combos. Keep your eyes to the Nixon site for an eventual release.
While we are on the subject of beards it would be criminal not to post this amazing photo of me by my good friend and fellow Back to The Future aficionado, Douglas Sonders. I was hanging out at the studio with Doug the other day while he shot photos of a family friend for a campaign and well, everything just fell into place. You can see more information on the photo including lighting setup and post processing by checking out Doug’s blog.
Lets just be honest for a second, if you have a mustache it sometimes gets unruly. I have been growing my beard for exactly six weeks now and I personally could use some of this pomade, so if there is a man in your life that aches for a handlebar mustache, this is the gift. Pick yours up here for only $15 and start training for the World Beard Championships.
As many of you already know, I enjoy firearms. Whether it be a building an AR15 piece by piece or conceal carrying my small .32 acp in my daily travels. Either way, I came across this today and thought it was too cool not to share, its a Mossberg 500 pump shotgun “survival kit” which comes with the shotgun itself as well as a few other cool goodies, all packaged in an incredibly clever tube. Check it out over HERE and pick yours up for just $350!
As far as inexpensive dolly’s go I have to say this one is pretty cool. I’m not sure how well it would do with the weight of my Canon 5dmk2 but it may be worth it for my iPhone or point and shoot. Check out some of the details by heading over to their site, HERE.
Music just isn’t what it used to be and that should be clear by listening to Mississippi John Hurt, a man who has seen it all and been around since before your grandparents were born. I really can’t say anything about him that will adequetlly explain how incredible his music is, so watch the video and if you want to know more about him go check it out, HERE.
Although I don’t really post about it too much I am a huge fan of The Format, and was honestly heartbroken when they broke up. I hate to say something as cliche as they changed my life, but their album Dog Problems came out at a very interesting time in my life and it was a huge part of trying to make things right again. When Nate started his new band Fun I was hoping that maybe they would pick up where the Format left off but without Sam it just wasn’t the same. I got a chance to see Fun play in Vienna, VA though and it was an awesome time, it was before the band really started touring so it was just an acoustic show, and they even played some of my favorite Format songs! Check out the video and take a look at this photo I shot of Nate when the Format played at Loyola College:

There are few things I love more than a gorgeous silkscreened print but one of those things are Best Made Co Axe’s, so the combination of those two things it near perfection for me. Take a look at the print above and then immedietely head over HERE to buy yours because a limited edition of 100 will not last long. If you would like to buy me one as a gift, send me an email at joe@shootjoec.com
Uh, yes please! I am a huge fan of Jurassic Park, I mean whats not to like? It has carnage, dinosaurs, and fucking Newman! I am of course only speaking about the first movie because the other two are a waste of the plastic they are made on. The trilogy is just $48 and available October 28th on Amazon. Special requests for my order: toss parts two and three in the garbage for me.
Today I had the opportunity to shoot engagement photos for two of my closest friends and it was the best time I have had in a while! The photo above is me shooting a solo photo of Charlie, taken on my iPhone 4s. Since I got the 4s on release day I have become more and more impressed with the quality of the camera and I find myself using it even more than I did on my iPhone 4. Check out my instagrid page by clicking HERE, and if you have instagram please follow me over at @shootjoec which is the same as my Twitter!
Wow. I am taken aback by this video. For once in my life I am at a loss for words. Being a heavily tattooed person one of the biggest issues I deal with in my life is the lack of acceptance of tattoos in our society. Anyone who has had to cover their tattoos for a job or anything else in life can more than likely agree with me on that.
So I ask, do these two photos make you think differently of me?

OK, so here is the problem I am faced with. I NEED this delorean in my life, like I really honestly believe that I need it. Unfortunately, I don’t have the amount of money that it will likely cost. I am hoping that nobody will want it since I am apparently the only person who favors Back to The Future 3.
If you want, you can donate to my Delorean fund by clicking the PayPal button on the left.
